CPS/DCFS EXPERT
Nicol Stolar-Peterson, PsyD, LCSW, BCD is a subject matter expert in Child Welfare, Child Protective Services, Forensic Interviews & Standard of Care.
I have the field experience that most experts do not.
I specialize in cases where child abuse has been alleged or has occurred. Standard of Care and Best Practice are my areas of expertise.
My almost 12 years as a child abuse investigator for Child Protective Services provides me with a very different internal perspective that can shift the outcome of a case significantly. I also worked as a forensic interviewer and foster/adoption trainer, homestudy writer and social worker.
I am familiar with the system, so CPS/DCFS records look different to me. I can make sense of them quickly and efficiently. I was in the trenches (boots on the ground), so I case audit with a different lens.
Hiring a social worker/investigator is imperative on these cases. Whether it's investigations, forensic interviews, adoptions, training, current standards, foster care, or placement/licensing, I enjoy digging in to each case regardless of whether I am hired by the plaintiff or the defense.
Making sure the person you hire to opine on standards of care, has the actual experience to do so, is vital. Regardless of whether it is a state or federal lawsuit, efficient document review, report writing, and the ability to testify competently in a deposition and at trial, embody the traits and skills needed in an expert. I invite the opportunity to be vetted so your firm can determine if I am a good fit in your matter.
Reviewing a case is something I enjoy. I love digging into a new case and taking it apart page by page and line by line. I also utilize researchers who are former CPS/DCFS (Masters Level Social Workers), on big cases making it easier to move through a case faster. So when I get hired on a case, you get me and my team. I also work closely with law enforcement.
